GERIZA

Imagine Geriza, if you know him not

Whose mind is full of circling lizards

Smile abrupt, face plastered bland

Croaking regrets, God knows for what

He'd see you suffer gladly

Behind his kind piety

Take away your last straw

Ruin you, more and more

Watch over you hopeless

Beat, disarmed, helpless

Wild within, exultant

Courtesy great, eminent.

He lives confident

As in a soap bubble

Is paid to be in fear

Of masters essential

Feeling hateful, small

Of those amongst us

Who thrust at once

Clean, man enough.

Know Geriza but to understand

Treachery, deceit and our sham.
